Down to the Sea in Ships

Those who go down to the sea in ships,
who do business on great waters,
they see the works of the Lord,
and His wonders in the deep.
Psalm 107:23,24

I live in a small fishing community in Maine.  If there's something we know about here, it's the ocean.  My husband is a lobster fisherman and I've had many opportunities to go out on the boat with him and breathe in the beauty of my surroundings.  Although you shouldn't breathe in too deeply if you're standing next to the bait box.

This next image is of a woman standing on a bell buoy.  The bell buoy has it's name for obvious reasons, it has a bell in it.  The stronger the waves/wind, the more the bell will sound.  A bell buoy is a seaman's friend offering them security and warnings.  Women standing on buoys, waving to the fishermen is not a common thing that one would see when they are lobster fishing.  This postcard is a lot of fun though and I thought some of you might enjoy some nautical images today.  Don't forget to click on each image for a larger view.

I found this next image in an old hymnal in my collection, titled The Ships Glide In.  I am not familiar with the hymn, but the words are fitting with my nautical theme today, and offer assurance to us that God is taking care of us, just as the bell buoy offers assurance to the vessels in the ocean.

I merged the three images together making the collage below.  All the images in today's post are free to you today.  Click on my sidebar button to learn more about my terms of use.
