The grass withers, the flower fades,
but the word of our God stands forever.
Isaiah 40:8
but the word of our God stands forever.
Isaiah 40:8
In the midst of a season change, the grass is withering and the flowers are fading. I'm reminded that the things of this world; the things we see, are temporal. One of God's promises is in today's verse, that His word will stand forever. We have it here on this earth, and we'll have it for all eternity. It is the one thing we can turn to for direction and wisdom. God speaks to us through his word. He promises us that his word will never return void but accomplish the purpose it was set forth. His promises stand firm.
One of the reasons I encourage you to memorize scripture, is so you'll always have it with you wherever you go. I memorized a lot of scriptures starting when I was 5 years old through my teenage years. There's no way I could sit down and recite them all to you, but God brings them up to me when I need them. It's as if I have a library of scriptures stored away in my heart.
Over the years the Bible has survived book burnings, riots, and persecutions. Man may continue to try and destroy it, but God has promised us that will not happen. His word will never wither, fade, dry up, or blow away. Forever O Lord, thy word is settled in Heaven Psalm 119:89. Next time you open your Bible, reflect on how precious it is, and thank God for keeping it safe for you. The Bible, God's word - - eternal truth and never-fading beauty.
The principles of gain through loss, of joy through sorrow, of getting by giving, of fulfillment by laying down, of life out of death is what the Bible teaches, and the people who have believed it enough to live it out in simple, humble, day-by-day practice are people who have found the gain, the joy, the getting, the fulfillment, the life. The sample project this week is a tag made by Cassandra at Altered for Him and features Isaiah 40:8. I like the way she used sticks to make a cross for her tag. Your challenge is to make a project using this verse or another verse following the theme of God's word.
Project Details:
Accessories: recycled cardboard, sticks, jute, paint, piece of screen, computer generated verse

Thanks so much for stopping by for today's Bible Verse Thursday. I hope you will have a wonderful rest of the week. Will get some more fall and Thanksgiving images on here for you.
I love the little cross made from sticks too -- and the words all cut apart like that! CUTE!
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how the Holy Spirit will bring scripture up to us when we need it. Sometimes He will remind me of a verse that I haven't thought of in a long time, and may not even realize that I knew. "A library of scriptures;" I love the way you expressed that!
ReplyDeleteCassandra is very talented and creative. Lovely!
Sweet card and verse - hiding God's Word in your heart - yes - He always brings His Word to mind as we work through our calling of the day. And, to surround ourselves with His Word displayed so artistically - pure inspiration!
ReplyDeleteJoy!

I love God's Word. There's nothing I face that I don't go to God's Word for comfort, rest, peace, heartache, etc. My favorite verse about the Bible is "Thy words were good and I did eat them, and they were unto me the joy and rejoicing of my heart."
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the cross!
thank you for this wonderful reminder...
