Spring is in the Air

The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness,
The world and those who dwell therein.

Psalm 24:1

Easter Morning at a local lighthouse

I came across this poem below by Helen Steiner Rice, titled "Spring Song" and thought it would go well with some pictures I've taken recently.

The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof
It speaks of His greatness and it sings of His love,
And the wonder and glory of the first Easter morn,
Like the first Christmas night when the Saviour was born,
Are blended together in symphonic splendor
and God with a voice that is gentle and tender

Speaks to all hearts attuned to His voice,
Bidding His listeners to gladly rejoice...
For He who was born to be crucified
Arose from the grave to be glorified...
And the birds of the trees and the flowers of Spring
All join in proclaiming this heavenly King.

Each Easter, the local churches in our community combine efforts and have a Sunrise Service at the local lighthouse, followed by a breakfast usually held at our church.  Here are a few pictures from that.

I can't close without showing you the colorful cupcakes my daughter-in-law made for the kids on Easter.  They were a big hit as you can imagine.

Last but not least, I'll leave you with a lovely spring magazine cover from long ago.  Have a delightful weekend my friends.  Thanks for visiting.

  1. Oh I'd love to be part of your Easter sunrise service -- too bad we don't live closer! I really enjoyed all the pictures posted -- what pretty cupcakes - almost too pretty to eat! :)

  2. What a wonderful time of celebrating! Loved seeing these photos. John went to the Sunrise Service up on the ridge overlooking our little valley and for the first time in many years, the sunrise was beautiful and clear. He said that it was awesome.

Such a nice fellowship hall, too. A wonderful gathering place for meals and events.

Have you been outside this morning? Oh my. What a switch back to winter overnight. Brrr! Though spring is notoriously capricious and soon it'll warm up again.

  5. "Speaks to all heart attuned to His voice." That's the secret, isn't it. To keep our hearts waiting for and listening to His voice. Such a beautiful place for a sunrise service. Loved seeing your pictures.

  6. Love the idea of having a sunrise service near a lighthouse. So many analogies with the thought of Jesus being our Lighthouse rescuing and warning us of the rocks of sin!! Thanks for sharing Abby! {hugs} to you dear friend.
