Waiting Quietly

To love God is to love His will.
It is to wait quietly for life to be measured
by One who knows us through and through.
It is to be content with His timing
and His wise appointment.

~ Elisabeth Elliot ~

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,
says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil,
to give you a future and a hope.
Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV

Blessings to you all on this Sunday morning.  Thanks to Dawn, from The Feathered Nest for this lovely graphic which seems to fit perfectly with the quote and scripture.  You can see the expression on the woman's face as if she's pondering and waiting quietly for what God has planned for her.

  1. Yes, we do know that ultimately He will work everything out according to His highest purpose. It's just the in-between that gets a bit sticky. When I think of Elisabeth, I hope that her days are content despite all that swirls about her...

(This is not my idea of a "slow melt" ! At this rate, we'll be all caught up with the calendar by Tuesday. Ha! )

  2. Abby, love that first quote (going into my 'special' notebook!) and the sepia painting!
    Blessings to you and yours,

  3. You are such a marvelous source of encouragement from the Lord. I love Elisabeth Elliot.

  4. What wisdom in that quote! I've lived long enough to know it's true!

  5. Thank you for this encouragement/reminder Abby.

  6. Thank you, Abby, for sharing the quote from Elisabeth - such wisdom! And the graphic is stunning! Happy Monday, my friend. Hugs to you!

  7. Beautiful, Abby! Stopping in to say howdy. :) Hope that you have a wonderful week! Any signs of spring weather up there?

  8. It is beautiful....the image and the words....God's timing and will is always best! Thanks for sharing.....blessings sweet friend

  9. I was blessed by this post dear Abby. Thanks for sharing.

  10. I am tickled to find your beautiful blog. I tried to sign up for emails, because it would be so uplifting to get these gems in my email, but I got an error message that says "This blog does not have email feeds enabled." Is there a way you can change that, or are other people getting email feeds in spite of that message? Of course I was attracted here because my nickname is Bluebirdie,
    God bless,

  11. Your pretty, encouraging post was a blessing to me. Thank you.

  12. Dear Abby,
I thought of you yesterday as we worshiped the Risen Lord! praise God for His inexpressible love and care for us, His children! Praying for you and hope you are's been a while since you posted, and you are missed!

Your comments are blessings to my day.
