Hello friends - As I write this post, Memorial Day 2016, a rainy day, a day of remembrance for those who died in service for their country. My husband, a Vietnam Veteran and I were privileged to visit the Vietnam Moving Wall, last evening. The Moving Wall has been in our area for a few days and a great honor for it to be near us on Memorial Day Weekend. A very sobering scene for all in attendance, quiet and respectful.
Thank you to all who have been praying for my friend Vee's husband John. It is with sadness, I tell you that John went home to be with the Lord on May 28th. At Vee's request, I have written a guest post on her blog to inform her readers. You can find it here: God Will Take Care of You
Vee's favorite color yellow serves as the background for this hymn "God Will Take Care of You". A hymn that I believe will bring comfort to Vee as she mourns, and perhaps to you for whatever trials face you. Please keep Vee and her family in your prayers. Thank you.

Thank you, Abby, for letting us know about Vee's husband. I will go to her blog now. I am so sad for her and the family but at the same time am glad to know He is in the Presence of the LORD.
ReplyDeleteI saw your post on Vee's blog and came over to thank you for letting us know. I will be praying for her and the family.
ReplyDeleteMy heart hurts for my dear friend, Vee. She needs our love and support. I will do all that I can to help her walk the widow's journey.
ReplyDeleteAbby, thank you for this post. It is beautifully written. Isn't it wonderful that you and your husband were able to visit the Moving Wall on Memorial Day weekend. A very meaningful time to visit.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you so very much for sharing the news about John's Homegoing with us. I am so sad to hear this news. Happy for John, of course. But sad for his family and especially for Vee. I can only imagine how very overwhelmed she must feel. It all happened so suddenly. We will be praying for her and for all the family that God will uphold them in the difficult days ahead.
I love these verses from Psalm 61 and will be praying them for Vee:
"From the end of the earth will I cry unto Thee, when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
"For Thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.
"I will abide in Thy tabernacle forever: I will trust in the covert of Thy wings." (Psalm 61:2-4)
Abby, no doubt your choice of the hymn "God Will Take Care of You" was prompted by the Holy Spirit as you prepared the comforting blog post for Vee. This hymn will surely bring great peace to her and her family at this deeply sad time! I am so sad for this sweet family and join my prayers with yours and others .... we know that our loving Heavenly Father can comfort and strengthen like no other. How wonderful to know that John is now safe in the arms of our Lord and Savior.
ReplyDeleteThank you Abby for the guest post on Vee's blog. I had an email from her advising of John's passing and it has saddened many of us as we come to know each other, and spouses through our blogs.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry about the loss of your friend Vee's husband. I will pray for her and her family.
ReplyDeleteThank you Abby, for posting on Vee's blog about John's passing. I know she appreciates it and we are all holding her and the family in prayer for her loss. We had the privilege of meeting Vee and John in April 2013 in Portland and had a wonderful time. It was like knowing old friends for a long time. My husband and John had lots to talk about. :) My heart aches for Vee. Thank you again Abby and God bless you.

Oh Abby...this sad news comes as a huge shock! I am so heartbroken for Vee and her family. Life is so fragile and we are reminded of other's tragic loss again today. Vee and I have become friends through blogging and I so treasure her thoughts and feelings. Please extend our deepest sympathy to her. It may help to know just a bit that others are remembering Vee and her family in prayer. Hugs and blessings.....Betsy @ Estelle's..thank you for writing this difficult post.
ReplyDeleteHi Abby, I want to thank you for sharing with us about Vee's beloved John. I will remember her and the family in prayer. I am thankful that the two of them were able to meet with you last summer. I enjoyed the photos that you shared. God bless you....I know your friendship and assistance to Vee is much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteI also was made aware of Vee's John and his passing through a friend's email. My heart is so heavy to have heard this news and Vee and her family are certainly in my prayers. The post you wrote for her was so beautiful and I as well as the rest of her readers certainly appreciate your thoughtfulness. Thank you for linking back to the post when the four of you met. I had read it when it was first posted but it blessed my heart to go back and read it again. God bless you, Abby.
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting on Vee's blog. I wanted to write her again and ask, but felt that I should check her blog often. With all the wonderful posts she wrote about John, we know that he has now joined our Heavenly Father. I bookmarked the post she wrote all those years ago when she realized that John was "the one". Everywhere she looks in her home, John will be with her in the work he's done, the words he wrote and the Bible he held. I'm so glad that we were blessed to know such a fine person through her posts. Now I will pray for comfort, peace and and beautiful memories that will be forever in her heart. Again, thank you, Abby, for the beautiful post you wrote on Vee's behalf.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Abby, for the lovely post you wrote on Vee's blog. In the midst of her grief, she took the time to email many of her blogging friends. She is such a wonderful friend, and my heart aches for her loss. Yet we know that John is with the Lord he loves. Thank you, again.
ReplyDeleteThank you Abby for your post on Vee's blog today. We have been so sad for Vee and her family since we heard the news. Vee has touched so many people far and wide and it is so wonderful that we can join hands like this and pray for her during this most difficult time.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Abby.
ReplyDeleteI have come here from Vee's blog, hoping I might be able to comment. I wanted to say that my prayers for her are being added to many others, and to encourage her with these words from Isaiah 43.
"Fear not [Vee], for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name;
you are mine.
When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you"
thanks for the update there Abby (and may God bless the US on Memorial day too)...
ReplyDeleteSo very sad for those left behind, esp. Vee but not for the dear man now in in glory with his Savior and Friend ..praying for all concerned.. every blessing.

ReplyDeleteI do remember the post Vee did when she met you and your husband last summer. How wonderful that you were able to meet each other and share such a special day. The collage is really nice.
It deeply saddens me to hear that we've lost this wonderful man. I'm continuing to pray for sweet Vee and the whole family. Please let her know that we care. With love, Diane
ReplyDeleteDear Abby, thanks so much for your guest post at Vee's...for sharing the heart-breaking news with such gentleness and grace. Vee and John have many friends in the blogging world. (Our family, too, was privileged to meet them in person a few years ago on a trip to Maine.) We all feel John's loss to some degree, and we grieve for our dear Vee. It is our privilege to pray for Vee and the family!
ReplyDeleteOh I'm so sad to hear this news. I love Vee and her blog, and will keep her in my prayers. Thank you for sharing with us.
ReplyDeleteI am so very sorry to hear of Vee's husband. I took some time to read the post you made on her blog, and then the post she wrote of John's and her visit with you and your husband last year. What a delightful time you all must have shared together! Thank you for sharing this glimpse of a special friendship.
ReplyDeleteThank you for telling all of Vee's blogging friends about her beloved's passing. Vee is loved by many and our hearts are breaking for her. I am so glad she has a friend like you who will share the news with us all. I remember when she visited with your family last year. What a wonderful time it was for everyone. ♥
ReplyDeleteI was so sad to read about John's passing. Vee and all her family are in my prayers. I remember her wonderful, romantic and touching post in, I think, July of 2008, when she realized she loved him and "he is the man" for her. He was a wonderful husband. I think when such things happen (death) so very quickly it is a terrible shock. My husband died of Alzheimers. It was terrible and heartbreaking, but I had time to be prepared. I hope you are right that someday Vee will blog again, because so many love her writing so much. She became very real even to those of us who never met her.
