Put on the Armour of God

I've been working on memorizing the passage in the bible which refers to putting on the Armour of God. It's found in Ephesians 6:10-18. Memorizing isn't as easy as it was when I was a child but I've almost got this one memorized. Do you/have you memorized scripture? God tells us to hide His word in our hearts (Psalm 119:11).

There is a free audio app from Bible Gateway that helps me. Here's the link: Bible Gateway Audio App

I find saying scripture out-loud, or listening to it clears my mind from the distractions of this world. This passage on spiritual warfare has been particularly important to me lately. I mentally put on each piece of the armour as I say the verse. I've been memorizing it in the KJV, but I'd encourage you to memorize it in the best version for you.

Ephesians 6:10-18

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Have a blessed day my friends.

  1. I love Ephesians 6 too, and my women's Bible study recently read "The Armor of God" by Priscilla Shirer, a book you might enjoy. The movie she starred in, "War Room" is also related to this.

  2. That's an excellent suggestion to say scripture out loud (not just to think it silently) as we face our problems.

  3. This passage would make a fascinating study. Time for the Strong’s.

  4. Quoting scripture is always powerful, and vs 12 has been very evident around me the last 12 months, so this powerful scripture has been much needed!
