Joy to the World ~ Christmas Freebies

Joy to the world, the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And Heaven and nature sing.

Joy to the World is such an exuberant hymn, written by Isaac Watts in the 1700's.  It's amazing that it's stood the test of time and remained one of today's most popular Christmas carols.  I like to choose this as the first hymn for our church congregation to sing on Christmas Sunday.   Since it's the start of a Christmas theme on my blog, I thought it would be good to begin with this great hymn.

Joy to the earth, the Savior reigns!
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy.

 No more let sins and sorrows grow,
Nor thorns infest the ground;
He comes to make His blessings flow
Far as the curse is found.

He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness,
And wonders of His love.
