It’s a Giveaway. I'm so very thankful for my 400+ blog followers, email followers and all the wonderful online friends I’ve made since I started my blog.
If you’ve spent any time here, you know I love vintage images and regularly give them away, digitally altering many of them with scripture. It makes me happy to see God’s word portrayed in a lovely way, and I'm thankful to have this blog as a way to share them with all of you. I also share a weekly devotion based on Scripture, every Thursday.
I try not to focus on numbers on my blog, but it's kind of hard not to notice the 400+ blog followers, and close to 350 email followers. I wasn't sure where this blog would take me when I started, but my vision was for it to be a place of Christian encouragement for women. Little did I know that I would be the one that ended up being encouraged time and time again from all of you.

Thank you so much, Abby. I think that I will choose Jeremiah 29:11 because God shows that to me again and again and it really has given me so much hope! I have to throw in the hymn "How Great Thou Art." Blessings to you, dear Abby!
ReplyDelete400 followers is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI have you on my blog roll but never followed...but now I just became your 401st follower.
I love this quote from Dwight L. Moody. "A rule I have had for years is: to treat the Lord Jesus Christ as a personal friend. He is not a creed, a mere doctrine, but it is HE HIMSELF we have!"
"What a Friend We Have in Jesus"!
I love to keep pages from Our Daily Bread...one page that I have tucked inside my current devotional has this statement at the bottom of the page.
ReplyDelete"You problems can never exhaust God's provisions."
We are so blessed...He never fails us.
One of my very favorite scripture verses is 1 Thess 5:16-18 NIV
ReplyDelete"Always be joyful.
Keep on praying.
no matter what happens,
always be thankful.
For this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus."
I try to remember this each day.
Dear Abby,
ReplyDeleteYour blog always offers so much encouragement to me!
I have so many favorite scriptures, and one that especially rings with me lately is John 15:9, which is an awesome description of the love Jesus has for us.
Thank you so much for all that you do, including offering a giveaway!
Hi Abby! Thanks for inviting me to stop by and share my thoughts. When I started at WAW, you were one of the first friends I made. Your love for the Lord was what drew me to you and your blog, and my love and respect for you have only grown since we first met. I've been SO encouraged by your kind words, prayers, encouragement, and just being a true Proverbs 17:17 friend. I could never pick just one scripture or hymn that I consider a "favorite" because our God, and His precious Word, is FULL of promises and blessings. When I think of you, I immediately think of Proverbs 17:17 because that's the kind of friend you are. I can trust you - good or bad, and I know you love me for who I am - a sinner saved by the wonderful grace of Jesus. I also love to think about your beautiful old church in Maine, and I dream of worshipping with you some beautiful Sunday morning. But most of all, I look forward to knowing you for all of eternity because of what Jesus did for us on the cross. I am blessed to know you, my dear friend. Thank you for your blog, your little piece of cyber-ministry. I just want you know how very grateful I am to have you in my life.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you always,
Karen

Hi Abby will make another comment too as have been so blessed in last few days.. I took a step of faith when came time to publish another of my illuminated texts on Sunday.
ReplyDeleteThe text was: As He thinketh in His heart so is he" from Proverbs.
I was burdened to share this post which has bee on my mind for so very long. Many folk come over to see the Word i do yet know they do not know Him so wanted to share "Who or What is a Christian?"
So it blessed my socks off when it was received so positively - so many unexpectedly positive comments (thank You LORD).
So my second point of praise is for the internet when we can share the Word of God as you do on your blog Abby and so bless encourage and perhaps lead other to seek Him.
Praise His wonderful name,

Hi Abby... I always feel blessed when visiting your blog, whether it be from your shared images, your stories, or the scriptures and faith and that you share. Thank you. I always turn to Psalms, or Isaiah, but there are so many scriptures to mention! I wear Philippians 4:6-7 on a bracelet, but I love it extended to Phil 4:4-8. I adore benedictions, and so many are sung... My favourites are Numbers 6:24-26 and Jude 1:24-25. My favourite hymns - so many - Rock of Ages, How Great Thou Art, Old Rugged Cross, Amazing Grace. These are also family favourites always sung at funerals, so they always bring me to tears, but so much strength and encouragement too. And I can't 'not' mention The Prayer of St Francis Assisi or The Beatitudes. I was taught wonderful hymnals (scriptures set to song) during my school years, and they have all stuck with me! Heavens, I could continue listing forever! Thank for the chance to share with you!
ReplyDeletehugs and blessings,
Pauline
Hi Abby - I had to share this one with you (just arrived in my email), and I think it could become my newest favourite!
ReplyDeleteThe LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father's God, and I will exalt him. (Exodus 15:2 NIV)
hugs and blessings,
Pauline
So many but I have been clinging to this verse (which repeats)
ReplyDeleteTruly my soul finds rest in God;
my salvation comes from him.
2 Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
Psalm 62:1-2
Thanks fo rthe chance, you are a blessing!

One of my favorite verses is Prov 3:5-6 ' Trust in the Lord with all your all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.' What comfort and peace that brings!! Be especially blessed, Kathy
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate all the cute images you share with us. TKS! As for my favorite Bible scripture for encouragement is: Matt. 6:33 "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you". May God bless you, and keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteI sure appreciate your way of blessing others with your blog. I am a faithful follower, and so enjoy seeing the vintage images. You are a blessing and I appreciate getting Godly images.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting to think that you are reaching some 400 followers, spreading good things of the Lord. I appreciate you using your abilities for God. Be blessed!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on so many followers and email followers! I do love what you do here at Little Birdie Blessings. Let's see, my favorite verse of all is John 14:2, though selecting a favorite verse is akin to selecting a favorite child. It is very difficult to do!
ReplyDeleteThanks Abby for all the work you put into your blog! I was drawn to your blog for 2 reasons...your love of vintage photos and your love of scripture. One of my favorite verses is Psalm 118:8~ It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. I am happy to be one of your 400!
ReplyDelete400 Followers IS ALOT !!!!!!!!! I'd be celebrating too if I were you! :) CONGRATULATIONS ABBY on a job well done for The Lord! :)
ReplyDeleteMy FAVORITE SCRIPTURE for encouragement would have to be the one I saw on a Teen Challenge Program when I was just a child. We had gone to a Graduation Celebration for Teen Challenge. Years later, my mother found that scripture on a plaque & it was the EXACT picture that was on that program ! I'm not sure what the translation is though. The Scripture is: "Oh how happy is the woman who believes in God for His promises to her come true." Luke 1:45.
What a lovely set of prizes for four lucky winners : )
ReplyDeleteI have so many favourites, but right now I have been utterly blessed by Hebrews 13:5 in the amplified Bible
“For God Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. I will not, I will not, I will not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let you down; nor relax My hold on you! Assuredly not!” You can't get clearer than that : )

What a lovely idea, Abby.
ReplyDeleteI will share with you the scripture The Lord has given me for this new year. It comes after several years of stress, trauma and struggle - you might call it the tilling of my ground.
Song of Songs Chapter 2, verses 10-13
My Lover spoke and said to me,
"Arise my darling, my beautiful one, and come with me.
See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone.
Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come; the cooing of doves is heard in our land.
The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance.
Arise, come; my darling, my beautiful one, come with me."
Indeed, most mornings I have awoken with a song of praise on my lips (regardless of circumstances) since this new year began. It truly is a season of singing for me. I hope it is for you too, Abby.
Blessing hugs,
Teresa

Hi, My name is Debbie. I want to enter your contest. My favorite song (not sure if it would qualify as a hymn) is On My Knees sung by Jaquie Valsquez. It gives me goosebumps when I hear her sing it. I love your vintage photos. Keep up the good work of spreading God's love.
ReplyDeleteThat should have been Jaci Velasquez
ReplyDeleteHi Abby, I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful and encouraging comments you left on my Chronically Living blog the other day! Your words really meant the world to me. I plan to start writing on it again very soon. It made me so happy that you enjoyed it. I hope you have a lovely and beautiful day ahead! Delisa :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite scripture is the Golden Rule - Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. That is the first and most important way to live our life. Thank you always for your encouraging words!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 400 subscribers! I am so thankful to get an email when you have a new post. I love your images and I am always encouraged when I read your posts. My life verse that I cling to is...
ReplyDeleteRevelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
10,000 Blessings,

Abby, how wonderful for you to reach 400+ followers. I'm sure that everyone of us are so blessed by your posts! It's so hard to pick a passage of scripture that is my favourite, since the Lord seems to lead me to different ones that uphold me all the time. One passage thought that was brought to mind is Psalms 143:8 " Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee." It is such an encouragement to me to know that I can find all things in the Word of God! to know that it is the Lord himself who causes me to walk in the ways of the Lord, and not just some thing I've determined.
ReplyDeleteThe Lord is good!
I so love the old hymns, they just lift my soul in praise to the Almighty! One of my favourites, if I could say that is In the Garden. by Austin Miles. "And he walks with me, and He talks with me, And he tells me I am His own, And the joy we share as we tarry there, None other has ever known." Every moment with the Saviour refreshes our souls!
ReplyDeleteHi Abby, What a fun giveaway. As I have told you, I love Hymns. I have so many favorites. But today I will share with you how much I like "I Need The Every Hour". Yes, I know the history behind it and I too need his presence in my life EVERY hour. Blessings to you.
ReplyDeleteI cannot say I have A "favorite" hymn as I LOVE them ALLLLLLL!!!!!!!!! :) but, I will pick one that I like! :) VICTORY;
ReplyDelete(It's from an old hymnal my mother had & my bothers & sister & I would stand around the piano as she played & we'd sing from this hymnal. Not necessarily this song.) By B.E. Warren. The first verse- Hallelujah, what a thought! Jesus full salvation brought, Victory, victory. Let the pow'rs of sin assail, heaven's grace can never fail, Victory, victory. Victory,... yes, victory; Hallelujah! I am free, Jesus gives me victory. Glory, glory, hallelujah! He is all....in all to me...
Hi Abby,
ReplyDeleteI have so many favorite scriptures for encouragement that's it's hard to pick one. I guess my fave would be II Cor. 4:7-9 We have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side but not crushed; perplexed but not in despair,;persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down but not destroyed. My favorite hymn would be "It Is Well".
I love your blog which I access through your e-mail. Thank you so much for the lovely Bible passages with pictures. I use them for making cards to encourage people.
Hi Abby,
ReplyDeleteWould love to win one of your lovely prizes. My favorite hymn is "This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad." I remember hearing it at church since I was a little girl. Have a wonderful day :) -Allison
Hi Abby,
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing, generous and lovely giveaway - you are so thoughtful! It's such a joy coming to your warm blog. I am always so blessed after reading your posts.
I, too, love the old hymns! That is what we still sing at my church. I could sit at the piano playing them for hours everyday. My favorite hymn is It Is Well With My Soul - what a precious song!
Anyway, my favorite verse is Philippians 4:13 - "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." That has been my life verse, especially when I was headed off to college :)
Thanks for this chance to enter. Have a blessed day!
Hugs,
Stephanie
There are so many wonderful promises of God in scripture, Philippians 3:14 is one of my favorites: I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. You are a sweet aroma of Christ and I am thankful to have "met" you online through CPC and enjoy your blog and ministry :0).
ReplyDeleteI left you my favorite hymn above before I knew you were having a giveaway. So I'll tell you another one special to us. The first Sunday we were back in church after Sarah died, RB was trying to think of an offertory to play and all he could think of was, "Oh love that will not let me go, I place my weary head on thee..." So special to this day.
ReplyDeleteCharm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD shall be blessed
ReplyDeleteproverbs 31:30 has to be a favorite. There are so many, He teaches us so much by His Word!!!
Oh and all of psalm 27 is great but the 10th verse... Amazing
ReplyDeleteThough my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me. Amen
Have you ever heard how the numbers 143 mean I love you... Psalm 143:8 is a great verse and that is a good way to remember it!!!
ReplyDeleteBut the best for everyone...For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever shall believe in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life!!! John 3:16
ReplyDeleteI loved your post on Hymns Abby! Thanks for sharing, I learned quite a few things!
ReplyDeleteWithout a doubt and for obvious reasons, our favourite hymn (anthem) is:
'JERUSALEM' adapted by Sir H. Parry from William Blake's poem.
Thank you as always for sharing your beautiful vintage pictures (the Valentine one is perfect for what I have in mind!).
God bless,
Abby...you know that one of the things that connected us is our love for hymns, although you are much more knowlegeable than me about them. One of my favorite hymns is "Lord, I'm Coming Home" about coming home to the Lord in all your being. Thank you for the giveaway sweet friend.
ReplyDeleteSo, I shared one of my favorite hymns. One of my favorite scripture verses is Romans 8:1...There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Hallelujah! Thank you for the giveaway.
ReplyDelete400 followers is awesome! My life verse is Psalm 19:14 "Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer". I found this verse soon after asking Jesus to be my Saviour (1976) and it still inspires me to be what God wants me to be.
ReplyDeleteI didn't learn the old hymns as a young person (wasn't raised in a Christian family); however, I learned many of them after being saved. It saddens me that many churches don't sing the old hymns anymore--they have wonderful messages! The young people aren't learning the great classics like:
ReplyDeleteIt is well with my soul or The Old Rugged Cross, which are two of my favorites. Thanks for the giveaways.
My favorite hymn is Come Thou Font of Every Blessing. I have a celtic version that is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the tremendous following! In this country of uncertainty right now, my scripture of choice is Rev. 17:14 "They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them, because He is Lord of lords and King of kings...and with Him will be His called, chosen and faithful followers." My favorite hymn is probably "How Great Thou Art," but it is closely followed by "Because He Lives," "Amazing Grace," and so many others. I grew up singing those old hymns, and when I can't sleep at night, I sometimes sing those old songs at night in my mind, trying to remember the words to all the verses! Thanks for having such a wonderful, spiritually uplifting blog!!!
ReplyDeletekathy.bruner@hotmail.com
Hello blogger friend, Abby! Much to be celebrating - as always when Jesus is on the throne! I just made 200 followers at The Writers Reverie - but am too bogged down to plan something. My two year blogoversary is coming up in March - must think on this! Your giveaway is so generous - I LOVE old postcards!! Do enter me. AND - thank you so much for your online ministry. I share your facebook links so often - you are a blessing beyond your scope! Blessings and joy!

Oops! Forgot to share my verse!! It would have to be the Psalmist crying out to "Be still and know that I am God!" Once we take our eyes off ourselves and all that is around us - and place our focus on the Lord - how still our heart and anxious human frailties.
ReplyDeleteJoy!
Kathy
Hi! I found your blog through my daughters blog, The Enchanting Rose.
ReplyDeleteI am now following you and would love to enter your sweet giveaway.
I love that you share Scripture on your blog.
My favorite Scripture verse and life verse is Mark 12:30. This verse says it all of how we are to live our lives as believers. And that is my desire, to love the Lord with ALL my heart!
Thanks again.
Blessings to you,
Debbie
Hi Abby,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your wonderful and encouraging blog. It's design is beautiful and its content is simple but powerful. I believe that is because the center of your blog is God's love. I always got encouragement from your blog. So, congratulation for your blog!
I am interested to participate on your Give Away contest. I enjoy reading the Bible, and one of my favorite verse is from Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight".
As for the favorite hymns, I love
"Fairest Lord Jesus" very much. It's an anonymous German hymn from 1677. I love this old hymn because it emphasizes the beauty and wonder of Christ, and it alludes to His dual nature, that He was both human and divine, God made flesh, the God-Man. Moreover its music is also soothing.
Thank you Abby and God bless you.

Hi Abby,
ReplyDeleteI forgot to write down the reason why I love Proverbs 3:5-6. These verses are special for me because I receive them at my Confirmation Day, from my pastor. As I continue my life I learn that these verses help me a lot--whether in my college time, working/career, married, or just simply in following Jesus day by day. It always reminded me just to trust the LORD and not to my own understanding.
Since I have no blog so this is my email address: ydh146@hotmail.com
Thank you
Hi Abby,
ReplyDeleteLove your blog it is so inspirational.
My favorite scriptures are many but one I particularly love is in Paul's writings to the church. Philippians

Hi Abby,
ReplyDeleteI sing a beautiful song that moves me deeply. It is called "Lily In The Valley". It talks of the valley and that Jesus is the Lily in that Valley and he blooms all the time. What a blessing to know that Jesus is shining forth his light in our time of trial! Praise His wonderful Name.
I love your vintage post cards.
It is wonderful to share scriptures with your friends.

Hi Abby,
ReplyDeleteI so appreciate your blog and beautiful vintage post cards. Thank you so much for sharing with all of us. We truly need more sites like this one.
I love this passage of scriptures in Revelation 19;11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King Of Kings, And Lord Of Lords.
The mighty sovereignty of God. It is wonderful. The word thrills my soul and lifts my spirits and makes me happy.
God Bless you,

Hi Abby,
ReplyDeleteThank you for having this give away. That is so super nice of you.
Music brings the sweet spirit of God so close to us. I love this old song and sing it often.
Chorus goes this way. There's a miracle in the making. One just for you the Father is working even now. Your prayers have been heard and the answer is on the way. There's a miracle in the making for you today!
It is so wonderful to know that the Father is always working on our behalf. When I need a miracle, I can always depend on my Heavenly Father. Praise His Name.
Blessings to you and your beautiful blog.
