Scripture Thursday ~ Beautiful in HIs Time

He hath made every thing beautiful in his time:
also he hath set the world in their heart,
so that no man can find out the work that God
maketh from the beginning to the end.

Ecclesiastes 3:11

About 25 years ago, a little girl came into my life and it wasn’t long before she had worked her way into my heart.  I’ll never forget her words “I’m so glad you married my daddy”.   This little girl, named Erin, my step-daughter, grew up to be a beautiful young woman and a very talented artist.   We watched her fulfill her dream of graduating from college, and marrying the love of her life, Sam.

Erin, appreciating the simple things

Today, Erin and Sam experienced a miracle, the miracle of birth.  Their very own precious little bundle of joy was born, little Nola Ann.   Nola came early, and she is about ½ the size that her robust cousins were, but mom and baby are doing GREAT.

a little miracle, fresh from God

The miracle of birth happens every day, and sometimes it becomes commonplace.  When the miracle happens to someone you love and have watched go from a little child to a parent with their own little baby, it takes on new meaning.   Seeing the joy on their faces today as they looked at their new baby, is a memory I will always cherish.

a new family

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.  James 1:17

Nola meets her Grandpa

My husband said he has seen the cycle come full circle.  Holding his daughter Erin as an infant, and now years later, holding her infant.

What was true of David (author of Psalm 139) is true of you. You are special—along with everyone else in the world.  This being true, we must be pro-life in the purest sense of the word. We are to respect and cherish all human life: the born and those still in the womb; winsome children and weary seniors; the wealthy executive and the financially destitute. All persons are unique productions of our Creator’s genius. ~ David Roper

  3. I had a chance to be a guest at a home birth (to help the midwife and be an encourager to the woman) and as the baby entered the world, I went into tears. I can't describe it… It was just so awesome! Very much a miracle! Have a wonderful week and congratulations :)

  10. This was a wonderful memory for me, Abby. I took piano lessons for many years, and can play the piano, but I am SO rusty. But, when I am at my Mom's in Minnesota in the summertime or visiting, and I do get the chance to sit down at my piano, this is the one song that I always remember how to play. I just love this little tune to this scripture, and have always loved this. That was a happy memory for me. Now I'm really missing my piano, and my Mom. I will call her in the morning. Thank you for helping me remember these blessings in my life. I give Him praise for you,for reminding me of His goodness. Your friendship is such a blessing to me. Knowing that I am praying for you.

    Hugs!

I recall the day my Dad held his grand-daughter for the first time....it's a precious thing! They have the same look about them....the one that says I never want to give them back. :)

  18. Abby,

I have been visiting your blog for the past hour :) I LOVE your heart for the Lord and your willingness to share it! I've downloaded many images and will sign up shortly to have new posts delivered to my e-mail!

I was wondering....the image you have on the right of a little girl holding a bird with the caption, "counting my blessings," is that available for us to save and print? I am looking to make blessing journals and I think that image would be ever so sweet on the cover.

    Thanks so much!
