The Prayers of a Humble Man

Be assured, if you walk with Him
and look to Him,
and expect help from Him,
He will never fail you.
~George Muller~

Just who was this George Muller that spoke the wise words at the top of this post? One of the greatest prayer warriors, history has known. His complete and total dependence on God not for just his own personal provisions, but for thousands of children he housed and educated over the years.

George Muller

George Muller: (1805 – 1898), a Christian evangelist and Director of the Ashley Down orphanage in Bristol, England, cared for 10,024 orphans in his life. He was well known for providing an education to the children under his care, to the point where he was accused of raising the poor above their natural station in life. He also established 117 schools which offered Christian education to over 120,000 children, many of them being orphans.

Then you will call on me
and come and pray to me,
and I will listen to you.
You will seek me and find me
when you seek me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:12-13 NIV

Have a blessed day my friends.

  1. That is a wonderful quote. What stands out to me is "expect help from him" because that is where I am presently growing. I love that you highlight these great men and women of the faith. I might not otherwise hear about them except from your blog. It is important work you are doing. Thank you.
    Blessing hugs,

  2. George Muller's testimony is a favorite of mine. Somewhere in all of John's books there are several devoted to it. He not only gave the children an education, he also taught them what it means to trust God so completely even when things look bleak indeed. (I do love that graphic...so pretty for autumn with the ivy all turning and the pretty maiden.)

  7. George Mueller is one of my prayer mentors. I read this biography in the 1980's and began to keep a prayer journal. My faith grew by leaps and bounds as I saw my prayers answered, and I've continued that practice to this day. He's still influencing people with his faith. I go back and read his story every so often to refresh my faith and love to buy copies of his story to share as gifts. Thanks for the photo of him. I've never seen one before.
    Blessings,
    GG
