And the angel said unto them,
Fear not: for, behold,
I bring you good tidings of great joy,
which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day
in the city of David a Saviour,
which is Christ the Lord.
Luke 2:10-11

Joy to the world, the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven, and Heaven, and nature sing.
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven, and Heaven, and nature sing.
Such a robust hymn of praise, written in 1719 by Isaac Watts. A hymn that sounds better, the more voices that sing it. I'm so excited that Christmas day is on a Sunday this year. The first hymn of our church service will be "Joy to the World".
Free Christmas Carol |
Joy to the earth, the Savior reigns!
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy.
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy.
Mr. Watts didn’t intend for Joy to the World to be a Christmas carol. He in fact wrote this song based on Psalm 98. The lyrics were later adapted to what is believed to be music from Handel’s Messiah. This hymn is one of the most sung Christmas carols today.
My project above for today's Scripture Thursday is an 8x8 digital scrapbook page featuring Luke 2:10-11. I used my own vintage graphics as well as some from Jessica Sprague and The Graphics Fairy.
Your turn to link up a project with scripture. Please link to your post, not your blog. Your project must be scripture from the Bible, not an inspirational phrase or quote. If you don't have a blog but would like to participate, email me a picture of your project at littlebirdieblessings@gmail.com
Have fun, can't wait to see what you have made.
Beautiful artwork and wonderful selections of hymns/ carols.

Beautiful work Abby. Was thinking of you today when I heard that song "What if your blessings came through raindrops" that you shared with me. So, I had to come visit you. Hope you are blessed.
