Wonderful Peace ~ Hymn
Far away in the depths of my spirit tonight
Rolls a melody sweeter than Psalm;
In celestial strains it unceasingly falls
O’er my soul like an infinite calm.

Peace, peace, wonderful peace,
Coming down from the Father above!
Sweep over my spirit forever, I pray
In fathomless billows of love!
Warren D. Cornell, 1889

This hymn is my “go to” hymn in times of anxiety, despair, or just reassurance.
Do you have a “go to” hymn or scripture you use when you seek peace?  Praying you all have a peaceful day.

  1. Yes. I'm sure that many of us do. I like yours. Mine is "It is Well With My Soul" unless it's something else. ☺ Different times require different hymns. For example, if I'm whining and I know it, not to be confused with "If You're Happy and You Know It," I sing "Count Your Blessings."

  3. One of my favorite scriptures when I need God's peace is Isaiah 26:3-4 -- "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength." I also go to Philippians 4:6-7.

    "Wonderful peace" is definitely a favorite hymn of mine. I also like "It is Well With My Soul" and "He Giveth More Grace." Many times in the midst of difficulty I have experienced God's peace and a line from "Deeper and Deeper" comes to my mind -- "Joy in the place of sorrow, peace in the midst of pain, Jesus will give, Jesus will give; He will uphold and sustain." His peace truly does surpass all human understanding!

  5. What a great post!! So encouraging. I love the verse in Isaiah 26:3 that states "He will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast because he trusts in you." I also like the song Perfect Peace by Laura Story :) Wonderful post!!

  6. My mom used to say this to me and have me repeat it aloud. It stuck with me and I say this whenever I am feeling weak or experiencing something very difficult.

    Philipians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me"

    Oh the "Happy and You Know It" makes me smiiile!! :o)
