I am the light of the world.
He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness,
but have the light of life. John 8:12b (NKJV)

I love to photograph God’s creation and usually my camera isn’t far from me. Living in Maine, there is ample opportunity for beautiful photos. One particular day I was visiting a cottage by the sea as the sun was going down. I didn’t have my camera with me, but remembered I could use my phone to take pictures.
Breaking all the rules of photography, I pointed the phone directly towards the sun and started clicking. I didn’t look at the pictures until later and when I saw the one below, I gasped.

I’m not sure what you see in it, but I see Jesus as the light of the world, and thought right away of John 8:12, today’s verse. Others have said they see a cross. Either way this photo of God’s creation is a reminder that HE is indeed the LIGHT OF THE WORLD.
You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Matthew 5:14 (NKJV)
In heaven there is no need for light.
There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever. Revelation 22:5 (NKJV)
The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. Revelation 22:23 (NKJV)
God refers to His word, the Bible as a light that guides us. Another photo below that was a gift from God. My husband taking in some of God's awesomeness with a path of light before him.
Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. Psalm 119:105
The reason I have “Scripture Thursday” each week is to bring more awareness to the wonderful promises God has for us in his Word. The Bible is the best self-help book you could ever read.

I can’t imagine my life without the Lord. He’s been there for me time and time again. He’s my rock, my fortress, my all in all. If you’d like to know more about what God can do for you in your life, Proverbs 31 Ministries explains it well here: Do You Know Jesus?
I’ve written quite a few “Scripture Thursday” posts now, and they often get buried in my blog never to be seen again unless someone goes on a search. I’ve had the idea for awhile now to put them all in one place on a blog page.
So…. Drum roll…….
I’m VERY excited to show you the new page. Which can be found at the top of my blog page or by clicking below.
SCRIPTURE THURSDAY
I’m still working at getting all my posts added but here is a good number of them in order from newest – oldest. If you’re new to my blog, you may want to look through the titles and see what jumps out at you to read.
Thanks so much for visiting me. I appreciate all of you and your comments. If you don’t follow this blog via email and don’t want to miss a single devotion, or free graphic, you can click on this link to sign up.

Wow Abby what awesome photos and girl how true is your devotion today. The bible is our light in today's world and without it how can we illuminate the light of Christ in our lives. Thanks so much for sharing your heart each Thursday!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to catalog all your posts into one page! That will be a big help to many.
ReplyDeleteBoth of these photos are beautiful reminders of some powerful truths of God. I think they are fantastic. I see a figure in the first and the path across the water in the second is beautiful as well.
Had to return to tell you that it is a beautiful page. Very user friendly! Probably the best I've seen. Thanks so much.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it wonderful when something turns up like that in a photo? I see Jesus walking on the water toward you. I bet he is smiling. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these words of life today.
Blessing hugs,
Teresa

ReplyDeleteHello Abby, the photo with the sea is very beautiful and I seem to see a beautiful angel, always at our side. My daughter Matilde really like to think of having always near one, since she was born, and every night he says his favorite prayer to read: The Guardian Angel.
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate your blog, which I read with infinite pleasure.
Greetings from Sicily sun-drenched and ... light.
