The flowers appear on the earth;
the time of the singing of birds is come,
and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land.

Okay... so the flowers
haven't actually appeared in my corner of the world yet, but I have the
promise that they will. This is a picture I took last year from my
friend Diane's daisy patch.
Here are some spring freebies for you from my collection. Among the graphics below is the hymn "Sunshine in My Soul" written by ELiza Hewitt. I have dispersed the lyrics between the graphics. This song was written during a time of despair. You can read more about her **here** from a previous post I wrote.
There is sunshine in my soul today,
More glorious and bright
Than glows in any earthly sky,
For Jesus is my light.
More glorious and bright
Than glows in any earthly sky,
For Jesus is my light.
O there’s sunshine, blessèd sunshine,
When the peaceful, happy moments roll;
When Jesus shows His smiling face,
There is sunshine in the soul.
There is music in my soul today,
A carol to my king,
And Jesus, listening, can hear
The songs I cannot sing.
There is springtime in my soul today,
For, when the Lord is near,
The dove of peace sings in my heart,
The flowers of grace appear.
There is gladness in my soul today,
And hope and praise and love,
For blessings which He gives me now,
For joys
laid upabove.
O there’s sunshine, blessèd sunshine,
When the peaceful, happy moments roll;
When Jesus shows His smiling face,
There is sunshine in the soul.
I hope you have a blessed day.
I'm going to try pretending "as if." Perhaps it'll work. I could put on some of those Gaither dvds and listen to some rousing Gospel music. (There's something about this song that reminds me of one I've heard there.) Beautiful graphics, Abby, as always! You must be getting quite a few stockpiled in your time of healing and forced rest.
ReplyDeleteSpring is TRYING to burst forth here!!!! It's STILL COLD though! We have a FEW flowers & the buds on the trees are starting to open! :) THANKS FOR THE IMAGES ABBY!!!!!!!!!!!! (Hang in there all, Spring IS COMING!!!! ) :)
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Abby, Thank you for the beautiful images and songs. I seem to connect to the songs often, I guess because most of them are so familiar. I read your posts more than I comment. You always uplift. Joyous Wishes, Linda
ReplyDeleteOh it is definitely a good thing to have sunshine in one's soul right now, especially those on the east coast! We drove downstate a couple of days ago and had a snow storm almost the entire way there and back. I'm *so* ready for spring.
ReplyDeleteThanks for warming our hearts and souls with this beautiful message. Hugs!!
How wonderful it is to see this hymn and am singing it in my head right now! Thank you so much for sharing these wonderful truths from God's Word!

Abby, there is a hymn that I love for Holy Week, "Were You There?" I would love it if you could share a copy. One of our dearly loved church members, a real man of God, sang it every Maundy Thursday. He died last year and I will really miss him singing this song. Beth, auntbeth54@yahoo.com
