A Peaceful Morning

I'm very pleased to have my daughter Bethany sharing with us what's on her heart this week.

Another snowy day. . . I was shoveling out my mailbox (which was completely buried) and the snow was coming down heavy. I was thinking about what a difficult winter this has been, and was having a hard morning even before I went out to shovel.

As I was outside, I started praying for peace. All of a sudden, the sun came out, the sky was turning blue, and the snow was letting up. I got my camera and walked around the yard, enjoying the sun sparkling on the snow, making it appear like diamonds. Looking closer at the snow, I could see the details of the snowflakes and realized how amazing and beautiful this world is.

peaceful morning

I’m so thankful for all the beauty God gives us in this world. I truly enjoy having four seasons here in Maine (although I wouldn't mind a little longer summer). Winter here really is beautiful when you stop and take it in.

Watching the news last night, it was scary thinking about the world we live in now. It seems to be getting worse as time goes on. I’m thankful that I can feel safe in my cozy small town in Maine, and I’m thankful for God giving me peace when I ask Him for it.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.
I do not give to you as the world gives.
Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

John 14:27

My daughter Bethany lives near me along with her husband and their three young boys. I am in hopes that she will contribute again here at Little Birdie Blessings.  ~ Abby

  1. Love your meditation Abby - yes, so often we get bogged down by the details when there is beauty to be seen.

  2. Lovely thoughts and photo. A gently falling snow can be a peaceful thing and there seems to be a hush just after it has fallen.
Seventy mile an hour winds whipping it like sand into your face - not so much. :)
    Blessings on your weekend,
    Teresa

PS - Oh blessed relief - Spring will come.

  3. That day was very interesting because it looked as if the worst was happening with the heavy snow falling. I was able to imagine Bethany's thought process very readily. It is certain that things appear to be coming to a rapid boil in the world, but perhaps God will spare us yet a little longer so that others come to know Him. It has to be great to have a guest writer! Does Bethany blog?

  5. How beautiful! Lovely, lovely thoughts. So encouraging in what could certainly be a very scary time. I am reminded more and more of how God would have us to be light in a very dark world. Please thank Bethany for sharing with us!

  6. Thank you for this reminder to stop and pray in the midst of any hardship...it is wonderful how the Lord opens our eyes to beauty and provides us peace within even in the midst of difficult circumstances.
