Websters Dictionary, 1828 describes GRATITUDE as: An emotion of the heart, excited by a favor or benefit received; a sentiment of kindness or good will towards a benefactor; thankfulness.
Did you catch that? An emotion of the heart!
ATTITUDE is defined as: the way you think and feel about someone or something, a feeling or way of thinking that affects a person's behavior
My husband, who was raised by his grandparents, grew up poor. Interestingly, he said he never knew it until later in life. Why? His grandparents had an attitude of gratitude and didn't dwell or talk about what they didn't have. They were grateful for what God had blessed them with. They had this emotion in their heart and it overflowed in their attitude and words.
Love that graphic and have already emailed it to a friend. Most things are a matter of "the heart." Wonder why that is since it is obviously the brain, but perhaps because we are most aware of our emotions in our chests,
ReplyDeleteI have heard what your husband says about his childhood from others, too. Some people are particularly gifted in providing security for children. His grandparents were two of those variety.
So nice to find you home this morning... I am grateful.
God gave me the gift of gratitude and I am grateful for it.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous graphic, Abby. TFS hugs, Teresa
ReplyDeleteThank you Abbie - for the reminder to cultivate an attitude of gratitude, and for the lovely graphic.
