Scripture Thursday ~ A Risen Savior

That if you confess with your mouth
 the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart
that God has raised Him from the dead,
you will be saved.

Romans 10:9

my beautiful church

Easter is a time to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.  For those who put their trust in Him and believe as this verse says, have the HOPE of an eternal security.   There’s a particular hymn that sums up the whole gospel message.  It’s titled ONE DAY and was written by John Wilbur Chapman in 1908.

One day when Heaven was filled with His praises,
One day when sin was as black as could be,
Jesus came forth to be born of a virgin,
Dwelt among men, my example is He!

Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.
Isaiah 7:14

Living, He loved me; dying, He saved me;
Buried, He carried my sins far away;
Rising, He justified freely forever;
One day He’s coming—O glorious day!

One day they led Him up Calvary’s mountain,
One day they nailed Him to die on the tree;
Suffering anguish, despised and rejected:
Bearing our sins, my Redeemer is He!

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
John 3:16

One day the grave could conceal Him no longer,
One day the stone rolled away from the door;
Then He arose, over death He had conquered;
Now is ascended, my Lord evermore!

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
1 Peter 1:3

One day the trumpet will sound for His coming,
One day the skies with His glories will shine;
Wonderful day, my belovèd ones bringing;
Glorious Savior, this Jesus is mine!

For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.  Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

  10. "One of these days" I'm going to learn to read music. ::winks:: This song I do not know however, my mom may know it. I'm going to read this passage further though. I don't have the bible with me that you gave me because I'm at the library in Ludinton right now however, I found the rest of the passages here: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20Thessalonians+5&version=NIV

    Have a beautiful and happy Easter sweet Abby! Thank you for sharing another week of wonderful inspiration.

  11. Thanks for always sharing the "whole song" for us! This was one of those songs I remembered only the chorus, so it's been a blessing to see the rest of the hymn. I'm always encouraged by your posts.
