Spreadin' the Love Around |
I thank my God every time I remember you. Philippians 1:3 |
Top of card is a poem by Helen Steiner Rice |
I had fun making valentines this year and have found of course, if you're making more than one, it's a good idea to do the same thing. The hard part, or rather the most time consuming part was coming up with the layout. I thought about it for days, put my materials out in front me and tried different things until I came up with this design. I'm quite pleased with them.
I made these Valentines from a box of printable invitations, and I totally reinvented them from their original use. On the front of the card, I used small silver doilies which I found in the cake decorating section at Walmart. The little pink felt birds came from one of the $1 bins at Michaels (how could I resist). I put a punched heart in the center of the doily with the scripture from Philippians 1:3. The scripture was printed on tiny address labels and cut with scissors to have a fancy edge.
On the inside of the card, I printed part of a poem by Helen Steiner Rice, and a sentiment on the bottom half of the card. These were printed on large labels, cut with deckled scissors and the edges inked. The lower half of the inside of the card was made using a response card from the invitatition set. I used a Martha Stewart border punch on the bottom, and inked the edges.
I hope you enjoy this Valentine card and it inspires you to get out your paper crafts and start playing. Who knows what you might come up with.
Here's the poem that I had on the inside of the card, by Helen Steiner Rice.
People need people and friends need friends,
and we all need love, for a full life depends..
not on vast riches, or great acclaim,
not on success or on worldly fame,
but just in knowing that someone cares
and holds us close in their
thoughts and prayers..
Happy Valentine's Day my friends. Don't forget to let the people you are close to know that you love them. Here's my Valentine gift to you, a Valentine digi, free to you for your personal use. The scripture is Wordart by Karen. If you haven't seen Karen's Wordart, stop and take a look sometime, and tell her I sent you. Papercraft Memories ~ Wordart by Karen.
